Mouans-Sartoux à Mandelieu-la-Napoule - Via Aurelia Camino

Description

This 17.1 km stage in the heart of the French Riviera offers a peaceful transition from the Grasse hinterland to the Mediterranean coast in about 4.5 hours of walking. From the flowery town of Mouans-Sartoux, the pilgrim gently descends towards the sea, crossing quiet residential areas and the edges of pine forests before reaching Pégomas. The Camino de Santiago path, well marked here, allows for serene meditation thanks to a low elevation gain (195m ascent and 316m descent). Arriving in Mandelieu-la-Napoule, the view opens up to the red rocks of the Estérel, offering a spiritual dimension facing the blue immensity. The arrival at the foot of the Château de la Napoule, a medieval sentinel on the gulf, beautifully concludes this day of Provençal journey.

Difficultés

Ranked as easy, this stage presents no major technical difficulties with only 195m of elevation gain. The main point of vigilance is navigation in peri-urban areas and some paved sections that can be tiring for the feet in high heat.

Conseils

Take advantage of a stop in Pégomas to fill your water bottle and visit Saint-Pierre church. In Mandelieu, don't miss getting your credential stamped at the Tourist Office or the castle. If you travel in winter, the nearby Tanneron massif is adorned in brilliant yellow thanks to the mimosa.
