Èze à Saint-Paul-de-Vence - Via Aurelia Camino

Description

This 31.1 km odyssey transports you from the eagle's nest of Èze to the artistic ramparts of Saint-Paul-de-Vence, requiring approximately 9 hours of walking. Between sea and sky, the path meanders through the limestone peaks of the Mercantour and balconies overlooking Nice, featuring an ascent of 1275m and a descent of 1366m. Leaving Èze, you will traverse the heights of La Trinitė and Aspremont, encountering discreet oratories and the ancient traces of the Roman Via Julia Augusta. Arriving in Saint-Paul, a sanctuary of spirituality and art, crowns this intense stage where Mediterranean blue merges with the Provencal mountains. It is a demanding inner journey, defined by Alpine panoramas and the silence of pine forests.

Difficultés

The effort is significant with a cumulative ascent of 1275m, including steep climbs right from Èze and technical descents on stony paths. The 31.1 km length combined with Mediterranean sun exposure makes managing fatigue and heat crucial on this section.

Conseils

Carry at least 3 liters of water as refill points are scarce between the ridges. Do not forget to get your credential stamped at the Saint-Paul-de-Vence Tourist Office or in one of the historic chapels upon arrival.
