Coudoux à Salon-de-Provence - Via Aurelia Camino

Description

This 17.6 km journey immerses you in the heart of authentic Provence, wandering through olive groves and fragrant hills for about 4.5 hours of walking. Leaving Coudoux, the pilgrim descends gently (193m of negative elevation) towards the Touloubre plain, crossing classic scrubland landscapes where the sound of cicadas enhances spiritual reflection. The path is very accessible with only 57m of elevation gain, passing old agricultural estates and humble oratories that testify to local devotion. Arriving in Salon-de-Provence, the imposing silhouette of the Château de l'Empéri marks a majestic transition from wild nature to medieval history and the legacy of Nostradamus.

Difficultés

With a mostly downhill profile and a very low elevation gain of 57m, this stage presents no major technical difficulties. The main challenge lies in the sun exposure on open tracks and the Mistral wind, which can blow strongly across the plain.

Conseils

Remember to get your credential stamped at Saint-Laurent Church in Salon-de-Provence. Carry plenty of water from Coudoux, as supply points are scarce until you reach the outskirts of Salon.
