This 103.8 km journey, spread over three days of intense hiking, plunges you into the heart of the Var hinterland: a land of spirituality and red rocks. Between Opio and Lorgues, you will face an ascent of 1704 m and a descent of 1690 m, passing through emblematic sites such as Grasse, the city of perfumes, and the wild landscapes of Lake Saint-Cassien and the Tanneron forests. The path winds through ancient olive groves and Romanesque chapels, secular witnesses to the pilgrims' passage toward Arles, offering a silence conducive to introspection. Reaching Lorgues, the Saint-Martin collegiate church marks the spiritual culmination of this trek through the scrubland and Provençal vineyards.
The main challenge lies in the length of the daily stages (approx. 34 km) combined with a cumulative elevation gain of 1704 m that puts a lot of strain on the joints. Rocky sections in the Tanneron massif and heat management on the sun-exposed limestone plateaus can be demanding.
Carry plenty of water between Grasse and Lake Saint-Cassien, as supply points are scarce. Be sure to get your credential stamped at the Lorgues tourist office or at the Saint-Ferréol hermitage for a unique moment of peace.
