Mouans-Sartoux à Les Arcs in 3 days - Via Aurelia Camino

Description

This major 82.1 km section connects the hinterland of Grasse to the medieval town of Les Arcs-sur-Argens in approximately 22 hours of walking over three days. Leaving Mouans-Sartoux, pilgrims venture into the wild landscapes of the Var, tackling 1,275m of elevation gain and 1,231m of descent through pine and cork oak forests. The route passes through authentic villages like Saint-Cézaire-sur-Siagne, Callian, and Montauroux, where the spirit of the Way is felt at Roman bridges and ancient oratories. Between the shade of the Siagne valleys and the golden light of Provencal vineyards, this stage offers a deep spiritual immersion in preserved nature. It is a demanding itinerary that prepares both body and soul for the necessary slowness of the long journey toward Compostela.

Difficultés

The effort is sustained with 1,275m of total elevation gain, particularly during the steep descent and ascent of the Siagne gorges. The significant distance between resupply points in certain wooded areas requires excellent water management and stamina over three days. The terrain can be rocky and slippery in rainy weather, especially on the paths of the Pays de Fayence.

Conseils

Plan a spiritual stop at the Saint-Barthélemy chapel in Montauroux and ask for your stamp at the town hall of Callian or Les Arcs. Fill your water bottles in Saint-Cézaire-sur-Siagne before heading down to the river, as the climb back up is exposed to the sun. In Les Arcs, don't miss the medieval district of Le Parage, a jewel of Var heritage.
