This 92.6 km journey over three days invites you to a deep immersion between the foothills of the Alpes-Maritimes and the Mediterranean, featuring 2675m of ascent and 3162m of descent. Leaving Monaco, the trail rises toward the Riviera balconies, passing historic sites like Eze-village and the Trophy of Augustus in La Turbie before reaching Nice and the Estérel massif. You will follow in the footsteps of ancient pilgrims along the Via Julia Augusta, dotted with oratories and Romanesque chapels, where the scent of scrubland meets the sea breeze. This demanding section, requiring about 24 hours of walking, offers an exceptional contemplative dimension, connecting coastal luxury with the wild serenity of ridge paths ending in Théoule-sur-Mer.
With 2,675m of elevation gain and stages exceeding 30 km per day, this section is rated difficult and requires excellent physical condition. The technical descents (3,162m loss) on rocky paths can be taxing on the joints, especially under the Mediterranean sun.
Keep a substantial water supply, as refill points are scarce once you reach the ridges. Don't forget to have your credential stamped at Sainte-Dévote Church in Monaco and at Nice Cathedral.
