La Turbie à Biot in 3 days - Via Aurelia Camino

Description

This majestic 57.6 km journey over three days takes you from the Roman heights of La Turbie to the glassmaking town of Biot, featuring 2,004m of ascent and 2,425m of descent. Leaving the imposing Trophy of Augustus behind, you descend towards Nice via the Riviera balconies before crossing the Var Valley and the hills of the Cannes hinterland. The path honors Saint James through discreet oratories and the Abbey of Rosans, offering a pilgrimage between Mediterranean blue and fragrant scrubland. You will pass through gems such as Èze, Mont Boron, and the medieval streets of Vallauris, carried by an atmosphere of absolute serenity despite the urban proximity.

Difficultés

The effort is significant with over 2000m of positive elevation, including technical and steep descents towards Nice that put heavy strain on the knees. Crossing dense urban areas requires increased vigilance for trail markers, while sun exposure on the ridges can be grueling in summer.

Conseils

Plan a spiritual stop at Saint-Réparate Cathedral in Nice to have your credential stamped. Stock up generously on water before leaving La Turbie and choose hiking shoes with good cushioning for the paved sections.
