This ambitious 61.8 km journey takes you from the steep shores of Cap-d'Ail to the hilltop village of Mougins, totaling 2161m of ascent and 2300m of descent over three days. Leaving the Mediterranean behind, the path climbs towards the Riviera balconies, passing through La Turbie and its Trophy of Augustus, before diving into the scents of the scrubland and the ancient olive groves of the Cannes hinterland. Pilgrims walk between sea and mountains, encountering the Brague oratories and the Notre-Dame-de-Vie chapel, places steeped in millennial devotion. Crossing perched villages like Èze or forest sections in Valbonne offers a striking contrast between Azurean prestige and the contemplative solitude of pine woods. It is an intense spiritual immersion in the heart of a technical and wild Provence, where every step west brings the walker closer to Arles.
The effort is sustained with over 2100m of elevation gain concentrated on sharp climbs right from the sea. Technical descents in the valleys of the Brague Park require vigilance for the joints, especially after several hours of walking. Sun exposure is high on the rocky ridges, and supply points are spaced out between the main villages.
Plan a spiritual break at the Notre-Dame-de-Vie chapel in Mougins to have your credential stamped in an inspiring setting. It is essential to fill your water bottles in La Turbie and Valbonne, as springs are rare in the forest. For an authentic experience, consider staying at the Lérins Abbey (via boat from Cannes) if you wish to have a retreat before returning to the trail towards Mougins.
